Flow rate

We perform flow rate measurements using the CONTROLOTRON 1010WDP UNIFLOW ultrasonic flow meter connected to the Mobile Testing Unit.

The flow meter allows displaying of the measured flow rate values and allows a simple data recording, so it can be operated also separately. The data acquisition (sampling) frequency in the stand-alone mode is 0.2 Hz (one reading/5 s).

The instrument probes allow flow measurements in pipelines of the inner diameter from DN 50 to DN 6000 at temperatures up to 120°C. The two-channel design of the instrument enables flow rate measurements at two locations simultaneously.

In order to achieve the maximum measurement accuracy, the probes have to be installed in a straight pipeline section without orifice plates, tapering, etc. The straight-pipe length should be at least ten times higher than the pipe inner diameter. The pipeline material can be of any kind (steel, glass, or combined materials with different acoustic velocity).

The measurement accuracy is affected by:

  • existence of a heterogeneous mixture in the pipeline (aeration)
  • condition of the pipeline's inner surface (corrosion, fouling, etc.)
